Caring for your Putter |
|
Whitlam putters are made from three basic materials of the
highest quality but they all benefit from a little care and
attention. The body of the putters are milled from either Carbon
steel, Stainless Steel or Aluminium and in some cases combinations
of these metals with additional Tungsten inserts. Putters are then
either plated or anodised or simply polished.
All the above
types are susceptible to attack from the elements and this will
result in either oxidisation or rusting.
The finish of your
putter will deteriorate if it is allowed to become damp for extended
periods of time. It is quite acceptable for the putter to become wet
during a round of golf but we advise wiping it before replacing in
the headcover and to avoid storing it in a damp headcover when at
all possible.
Place a dry cloth in the headcover after a wet
round and allow the putter and cover to dry out separately.
The aluminium body of the Hummer series is very soft and it
will mark if dropped or hit against an unyielding surface. Small
marks will not affect the putters performance but we recommend that
the Hummer is always kept in its cover during play.
Our
grips are soft for good reason and can become deformed if left for
periods of time against hard objects. These marks will usually
reform with immersion in hot water. We recommend that you replace
grips periodically.
Your Whitlam putter is a precision
product made of the best materials. We hope that the above will help
to ensure that it gives you many years of service.
